Chemotherapy makes some people infertile - either temporarily, or permanently. Men tend to be affected more than women.

If there is a chance that you might want to start a family in the future please talk with your doctor about this, before you start your treatment. If you are a man, it may well be possible to store some of your sperm for use later on. This is called sperm banking.

It's important not to get pregnant - or to father a child - during chemotherapy. If you or your partner take certain chemotherapy drugs just before or during pregnancy they may harm the developing baby. Please carry on using a reliable birth control method.

If your period is late and you think you could be pregnant, tell your doctor straight away.
