If your doctor suggests that you join a trial, you might like to ask...

  • What is the trial trying to find out?

  • What can you tell me about the new treatment being tested?

  • If I have the new treatment, how might it affect me? What side effects might I get?
  • What are the risks and benefits of the standard treatment? How likely is it to be successful?

  • What will being in the trial involve? Will I have to come along for extra check ups or appointments?

  • If I don’t join the trial, what treatment will I have?

  • If I want to think this over, how much time do I have to make my decision?

  • Who is funding this research?

  • Do you get paid if I enter the study, and what happens to the money?
