When you arrive...
Please report to the reception desk, where you will be directed to the treatment area.
A radiographer will explain what will happen during your treatment, and any side effects. Please feel free to ask any questions or concerns that you may have.
For treatment.....
You will need to take off some of your clothes, and put on a gown. It's best to wear clothes that are easy to get on and off.
In the treatment room...
Your radiographers will explain exactly what is going to happen.
They will help you lie on the treatment couch and will move you and the treatment machine into position. The radiographers will leave the room and switch on the machine. You will need to lie still and breathe normally.
You will be alone in the room during your treatment, but watched on closed circuit television by the radiographers. There may be some music playing in the background and you will hear some noises from the machine but you will not feel anything.
Treatment is given from different angles. The machine may come very close to you but it will not touch you. You will be in the treatment room for about 15 minutes each time.
Afterwards...
You can get dressed and go home.
If you do have a problem with your treatment or any side effects, tell the radiographers and they will arrange for you to see a member of the clinic staff if necessary.
