This is a common query - what is the difference between complementary and alternative therapies?
Complementary therapies are often used by people affected by cancer alongside the conventional medical treatments (e.g. chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc). They are often used to maintain overall health and well being. For more information on complementary therapies, click here.
Alternative therapies are treatments that try to treat cancer instead of using conventional medical treatments. Sometime people use alternative therapies because they feel conventional medical treatments cannot help them.
If you are considering using either complementary or alternative therapies, please discuss this with your health care team or GP.
