Invasive cervical cancer and CIN (pre-cancerous changes) can affect women of all ages.
CIN and invasive cancer of the cervix are hardly ever found in women who have not been sexually active. There is evidence that they are linked to some forms of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), which is normally passed on through sex.
We also know that women who smoke are more likely to get this cancer.
