Some mouth cancers spread quickly; others grow more slowly.
Mouth cancer may spread into nearby tissue in other parts of the mouth or neck. This is called localised spread.
Later, if mouth cancer cells get into the lymphatic system or bloodstream, they can travel to other parts of the body and start growing there. These cancers are called secondary cancers or metastases.
