  • Your saliva may stay thick and sticky for quite a few months, making your mouth feel dry. Continue to follow the advice given for the short term effects of a dry mouth.
  • If your saliva does not return to normal, your teeth will be more prone to decay. It's important you look after them carefully and visit your dentist regularly.
  • Your dentist may wish to start you on a topical flouride treatment to protect your teeth.
  • Your sense of taste may never completely return to normal.
  • Your voice may never completely return to normal.
