With current treatment options, low grade lymphomas probably can’t be cured - but treatment can help to control the cancer.
This means that many patients have quite long periods when their lymphoma is under control and not making them feel unwell.
At other times, when active treatment is needed, chemotherapy is the usual choice. It uses special drugs to kill cancer cells. Chlorambucil (Leukeran) is most often used, together with a steroid called Dexamethasone. Patients normally take a five-day course of tablets every three weeks for about six months.
