The main symptoms of oesophageal cancer are
- difficulty swallowing. At first solids, such as meat, and then softer foods and liquid become difficult to swallow
- acid reflux or burning sensation in the gullet with indigestion and pain behind the breastbone
- unexplained weight loss
These symptoms may be caused by conditions other than cancer. You should see your GP if these problems persist. If cancer is the cause, it needs to be treated as quickly as possible.
