It depends what treatment you have.
It will take around six weeks to recover from surgery (hysterectomy).
After radiotherapy you should be feeling better after about six weeks.
Chemotherapy may make you feel tired and a bit unwell, although this doesn’t always happen. The effects will gradually wear off once treatment is finished.
If you are having hormone therapy you should feel quite well, although there may be some side effects (such as hot flushes or vaginal dryness).
Surgery and radiotherapy may affect your sex life, although this isn’t always the case. For example, radiotherapy sometimes makes the vagina narrower, and this could make sex uncomfortable - but it is now possible to prevent this problem.
Your doctor and nurse will tell you what may happen in your case, and explain what help is available. If you have any questions or worries, please don’t be afraid to ask.
