About Breakthrough Breast Cancer:
Breakthrough Breast Cancer is a charity committed to fighting breast cancer through research and awareness.
Breakthrough’s mission is to :
- initiate and support research which aims ultimately to eradicate breast cancer by discovering the causes of the disease, finding methods of prevention and developing new treatments
- create a focus for breast cancer research through the Breakthrough Toby Robins Breast Cancer Research Centre at the Institute of Cancer Research in London, the first of its kind in the UK
- encourage the rapid communication of research findings for the practical benefit of people with breast cancer
- promote breast cancer education and awareness among the public, the policy makers, health professionals and the media
- campaign for policies that support breast cancer research and a pioneering approach to breast cancer services in the UK and Isle of Man
- foster partnerships between organisations concerned with breast cancer

Breakthrough Breast Cancer Isle of Man Group aims to:
- promote breast awareness in women of all ages in the Isle of Man;
- raise funds for Breakthrough’s research;
- provide information and support on breast cancer issues.
Breakthrough Breast Cancer Isle of Man Group give talks on breast awareness and breast cancer to schools and women’s groups. They work closely with health professionals at Noble's Hospital, the DHSS and IOM Anti-Cancer Association in their promotion of breast awareness.
Breakthrough Breast Cancer Isle of Man Group also has broader interests in breast cancer advocacy, campaigning and research .
The President of Breakthrough Breast Cancer Isle of Man Group holds the following positions:

- Breast Cancer Awareness Month - October
The Breakthrough Breast Cancer Isle of Man Group focus their activities on October, breast cancer awareness month, when they actively encourage women to "think pink" and become more breast aware. Breakthrough’s breast awareness message is to give your breasts some 'TLC' – Touch, Look, Check. For more information on the 'TLC' awareness campaign, and the simple steps you can take to be more breast aware, click here.
During breast cancer awareness month, the group encourage companies and schools to hold 'Pink Dress Down Days' or 'Pink Parties' to both raise awareness of breast cancer and to raise funds for much needed research.
Fundraising:
The annual Bra Dash is a fun event designed to raise awareness of breast cancer and raise funds for research. This will be held on Friday 13th May 2011
