Breast Screening

Breakthrough Breast Cancer Isle of Man Group is working with the Department of Health and Social Security and Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association to introduce a 'call/recall' breast screening service for the Isle of Man. This is where ladies will be invited to attend a regular mammogram once they have reached a certain age. Breast screening can save lives, as it can detect tiny tumours before they can be detected by the woman herself. The earlier a breast cancer is detected, the better the chance of a full recovery.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month - October

The Breakthrough Breast Cancer Isle of Man Group focus their activities on October, breast cancer awareness month, when they actively encourage women to "think pink" and become more breast aware. Breakthrough’s breast awareness message is to give your breasts some 'TLC' – Touch, Look, Check. For more information on the 'TLC' awareness campaign, and the simple steps you can take to be more breast aware, click here.

During breast cancer awareness month, the group encourage companies and schools to hold 'Pink Dress Down Days' or 'Pink Parties' to both raise awareness of breast cancer and to raise funds for much needed research.
